Shift in Academic Calendar, School Resumption Slated For January 2025

Classes at the Tropics Derma Research & Training Institute for the 2025 Academic Year will officially commence this January, contrary to our traditional re-opening every September. This change has no effect on the duration of the various training programs. It is a strategic decision geared towards providing students with high quality education and academic excellence. The pause and subsequent change in our academic calendar gave us the time to incorporate the resources and opportunities produced by some recent partnerships – with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, UNESCO the Ministries of Employment and Vocational Training, MINEFOP and Women Empowerment and the Protection of the Family, MINPROFF.

Classes in all our four programs; Tropical Medical Aesthetics, Tropical Skin Care, Advanced Medical Aesthetics and Tropical Derma Care, will resume progressively depending on the modalities of the different training courses. Detailed information about these programs is on our website to help students decide which programs they want to pursue and prepare their application packages.

Applications will open in October, and anyone interested in the beauty health and wellness industry, especially those looking to contribute to research and innovation on issues plaguing ebony skin types are welcomed to apply (some programs have prerequisites).  The training programs are flexible and can accommodate professionals in the industry looking to fine tune their skills alongside those looking to professionalize their skills.

Our programs include a business of health communication module that equips students with the skills and knowledge required to start, manage, and grow successful businesses in the skin health and beauty industry. Students learn the fundamentals of business, effective communication strategies, brand building, digital marketing, and the importance of ethical practices in health communication. TDRTI graduates are expected to have both the technical knowledge and the business savvy to leverage their education to start and grow their own beauty and wellness businesses.
