TDTRI, Women Empowerment Ministry Set to Collaborate on Empowering Young Girls in Medical Esthetics

The Ministry of Women Empowerment and the Protection of the Family, MINPROFF and the Tropics Derma Training & Research Institute, TDTRI are set to join forces in efforts to empower young girls in medical esthetics and related domains.

MINPROFF’s desire to work with TDTRI is contained in a letter signed by the Minister Marie-Thérèse Abena Ondoa, addressed to the founder of TDTRI Dr. Edith Forkwa Gibson.

Minister Abena Ondoa in the letter commended TDTRI for leading research and innovation geared towards the development of sufficient solutions to tropical skin problems. The Minister also praised TDTRI for its desire to equip young girls with skills in medical esthetics.

She concluded by extending her Ministry’s support to TDTRI and expressed readiness to collaborate with the institute on development efforts.

This partnership aligns with MINPROFF’s mission to promote and protect women’s rights, while guaranteeing their financial empowerment and by extension autonomy.

It equally addresses TDTRI’s vision to train and equip more women and young girls in medical esthetics, which is crucial for the reduction of unemployment in the country.

Medical esthetics is still a relatively new discipline in this part of the world, and although beauticians are dedicated to delivering results, their effectiveness is hampered by a lack of specialised training in the subject matter. Hence TDTRI’s determination to change this narrative and transform the country as a leader in the development of tropical cosmetics.
